The memorial service for Jay Votel will be held on Saturday, August 2, at Mays Chapel United Methodist Church.

Jay died on June 25, at the age of 52. Jay and his wife Nancy have been very active in the
World Folk Music Association for many years. For a time Jay served as the editor of the WFMA newsletter, Folk News, and helped with the planning
and execution of many of the WFMA annual benefit concerts. Jay will certainly be missed.
Jay was also active in FOCUS, and a member of the band Allegheny Uprising.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Nancy and the family. Jay requested that memorial donations may be made to SOME (So Others Might Eat) at
www.some.org.

On Saturday, May 3, 2008,
a sell-out crowd gathered to honor folk performer and songwriter,
with a special lifetime tribute and concert at the
Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center at Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria Campus,
Alexandria, VA.
In addition to live on-stage performances, a large television screen was utilized to present performers unable to attend but wanting to be included in the tribute.
