On Saturday, June 1, 2013, the World Folk Music Association some of our favorite performers in a concert money for Madison House Autism Foundation.

One in 88 children is diagnosed with autism today.  Like most individuals, they will live the majority of their lifetimes as adults.  Their future however, will be dramatically different, with little hope for jobs, moving out of their parents' homes, social engagement and basic quality of life opportunities.  Madison House Autism Foundation is among the first and few organizations in the nation to focus exclusively on addressing the social, educational, and economic challenges impacting adults with autism and their families.

Photo of painting by Dashir Johnson In addition to a fine evening of music by our featured performers, our Benefit Concert for the Madison House Autism Foundation included an art show and silent auction.  The painting at the right, by Dashir Johnson, is just one of the 25 magnificent works of art that was on display and available at the silent auction.

The artwork was first displayed in the Cafritz Foundation Theatre, during our pre-concert reception.  Those attending the reception had the first opportunity to see, and bid on, these works of art.  After the reception, they were moved to the lobby so that all concert attendees had an opportunity to view and bid on them during the concert intermission.  The silent auction winners were announced during the second half of the concert.  All proceeds from the silent auction went directly to Madison House.
