Since 1986 the World Folk Music Association has sponsored exciting annual, folk music extravaganzas, bringing together a unique mixture of both well-known and lesser known folk performers. It has always been a wonderful opportunity to see and hear your favorite folk performers as well as become aquainted with new ones. From 1986 through 1996 the event was a single concert at Lisner Auditorium in Washington, DC. From 1997 through 2005 the event format was changed to a full weekend of folk music at a smaller venue, the Birchmere, in Alexandria, VA. From 2006 through 2009 our concerts were back to a single concert at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center at Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria Campus. In 2010, the World Folk Music Association returned to the Birchmere for two nights of outstanding music.

On Saturday, April 2, 2011, the World Folk Music Association 25 years of benefit concerts and helped "Mr. Folk Music," Dick Cerri, celebrate his 75th birthday.  This concert took place in the beautiful Dekelboum Concert Hall of the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Maryland in College Park.

Many of Dick Cerri's favorite performers were on hand, and a number of other performers, who were not be able to be present in person, provided video greetings.  We also took a look back at some of the highlights of our first 24 concerts.
