John Rickard

John Rickard has lived all his years in the shadow of Short Hill Mountain and Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. In his colorful life, he’s been a stone mason, auctioneer, storyteller and songwriter. John brings all of these experiences together with a deep appreciation for the mountain folk whose lives he chronicles with a simplicity of lyric and vivid detail. This Falling Mountain Music recording artist has delighted audiences young and old with his dry wit, simple stories and his vintage "west Texas campfire" style harmonica accompaniment. As a folklorist of mountain people and their ways, John Rickard is the genuine article. John’s gift with words and warm baritone are a joy to share as he carries on the Appalachian tradition with his debut recording, The Simple Life.
