Nancy Dougherty

Nancy Dougherty's performances have spanned musical genres from 40s swing to madrigals to rock to opera. Nancy's original songs reflect her unique view of the world from her vantage as a contemporary wife, mother and incipient "rock star."  Whether telling a poignant story or poking a little fun at some of our more hallowed institutions, her songs illuminate modern American life. Vic Heyman describes Nancy as "...a knockout ...;with well-crafted songs and a marvelous voice...Her personality fills a room."  David Nuttycombe  of the Washington City Paper says, "This Mother rocks...alternating the wry with the gorgeously heart rending." From 1993 through 1997, she performed with the trio Venus Rising, which won the 1997 WAMA award for Best New Artist.
